Blog is back!

After almost a year hiatus, I'm back. I think that from May until June, 2009 I didn't have much that I actually wanted to report. Then I went on vacay for a month. Then I started my post doc fellowship and was getting down to the business of getting a life post-dissertation. I didn't even send out a Christmas letter this year! My excuse? Too busy. And now, apparently, I want to write about this so-called life.

I suppose by way of recap, I can list the most important things going on in my life at the present moment.

1. John: fabulous boyfriend. Tall, dark and handsome. Adores me. We've been dating since October. I am a smitten kitten.
2. EPPP: national licensure exam for psychology. Must get 70% to pass. I've been studying since January, and plan to take it in June.
3. Richmond: I love it here. There is a group lobbying for me to stay. I'm a member of this committee too. Which brings me to...
4. Job hunting: Assuming I pass the EPPP, I will get licensed in September. Then I can be in private practice, or not. I am looking around Richmond and within about a 100 mile radius or so.

The other sort of important things going on include yoga, working out, reading, oh yeah, and work. I do these things a lot. This year is really similar and really different from last year's internship at Virginia Treatment Center for Children. I still work on the Acute unit, treat children and their families, have a small outpatient caseload and do psych evals. But this year I'm Dr. Schofield, I don't have to go to seminars, I supervise interns and I do Human Rights evaluations. Most of my referrals come from the D.C. and Maryland area and I try to pick the most interesting ones to work on. So if your political asylum claim is a real snooze, chances are, we won't be meeting.

I've made it my business to be well-versed in all the best restaurants in the area, so if its brunch you're after, I'm your gal. Happy hour drinks? Gotcha covered. Ambience, price point, neighborhood, type of cuisine, I'm aspiring to become a one-woman Zagat guide to Richmond dining. Luckily, my wonderful Richmond gfs provide excellent company and inspiration for restaurant ventures. And, general hilarity.

I still am a bit of a globe trotter, even though my travels have been confined to the 50 states since 2010. I did bust out the passport for a Quebec trip in July, and the next one might have more of an Asian flavor, perhaps more kimchi than sashimi, we shall see. But in the meantime I've hit up Brooklyn, Detroit...and how can you top those, right? Like Milwaukee? Buffalo? Actually, I'm going to Charlotte this coming weekend to see Miss Jena, well, now she's Mrs. Jena but that doesn't quite have the same ring to it. Keeping up with my peeps has been as important as ever.

The cats are good, the parents are great, and the weather is about to get pretty here, so I'm all smiles. Stay tuned for either...Diana's First Ski Experience or Diana's Experiments in Crockpot Cooking.

Ciao!
