First day of actual work related business
Today was Human Resources Day. I had a 10:00 AM appointment with Employee Health Services so I left the house at 9:00 to get downtown, retrieve my weeklong parking pass, and find the building I needed. I thought there would be more physical-like things going on, like more temperature taking, less poking me with needles. But alas, after the blood pressure cuff came off I got a Hep B shot, a Tetanus uber booster, and blood drawn for chicken pox titers. I was then sent over to the Outpatient lab for a drug screening, which was conducted by one surly nurse. She recited her instructions to me in such a thick accent, coupled with a monotone that forced me to repeat back everything she said in slow mo just so I could make sure that I got it, and did it right. I was loathe to piss her off after she had to call my name 5 times in the waiting area because I was so engrossed in my book! After I peed into a cup in a really specific way, I went to Human Resources "Express" to prove my identity with my passport and hand in a bundle of paperwork. Next was lunch in the hospital cafeteria, and then I made my back north to run errands for the rest of the afternoon. My car is now sparkling clean both inside and out, and I've updated my GPS. The To Do list is significantly shorter than it was last week and its just TWO days til Will comes to visit!!!
